Wildthings Squeeze By Mobile, 3-2
|
The Mobile Yard Dogs got a superb performance from pitcher Dustin Engstrom, but the Washington Wildthings still won the game, 3-2. Engstrom threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Washington reliever Ryan Perkins picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pete Duncan was saddled with the loss. Jim Unknown picked up the save for Washington, his 1st of the year.
Washington used the hitting of Kyle Janiszewski to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Wildthings on top, 3-2. For the game, Janiszewski had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Every loss hurts," said Mobile manager Gil Gomez. "But this was a tough one."
With the win, the Washington record is 28-85.
