Libertyville shortstop Alan McConnell was sensational. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Traverse City beat the Polecats, 5-4. With the win, Traverse City is 26-84.

Traverse City used the timely hitting of Marcus Hoffman to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bears on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Hoffman told the Traverse City Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
