Polecats Raise Rally Flag, Beat Washington, 3-1
|
Eddie Carver was nothing short of phenomenal for the Libertyville Polecats. The 22-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Washington Wildthings, 3-1. Libertyville reliever Eric Volmar picked up the win. Jose Suazo took the loss for Washington. Yes, it was a win for Libertyville; but their 34-75 record is still nothing to boast about.
Libertyville used a timely hit from Max Zuniga to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Polecats ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Polecats manager Armando Cerda.
