Wildthings Prevail, 4-2, Over Riverside
|
Red Barons Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Riverside Rotters and Washington Wildthings.
The Washington Wildthings had to overcome a fine effort from Riverside pitcher Carl Bennett to win, 4-2, at Red Barons Ballpark. Bennett went 7.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Terence Beggs picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 1. On the season, he is now 2-15.
In the bottom of the 4th, Washington took the lead on a 2-run single by Jim Unknown. At the time, the Wildthings were trailing 2-1, but Unknown's hit with two outs against Riverside pitcher Carl Bennett put them in front, 3-2.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Adrian Mercado.
The Wildthings now have a record of 23-84.
