Gangsters Slap 8-5 Loss on Toronto
The Chicago Gangsters put one in the win column with an opening day 8-5 triumph over the Toronto Trash Pandas. The crowd at The Hideout watched Josh Wilkes put on a fine performance. The winning pitcher was Wilkes, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5.

Hector Alvarez had a big 3-run home run for the Gangsters in the bottom of the second inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a cutter from Jim Murphy, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gangsters ahead, 4-0.

"Josh had good arm action, good stuff," said Chicago manager Antonio Valdez.
