Whislters Park was the site of the home opener for the Boston Whistlers. The contest featured a prime matchup between Jerry Bowman of the visiting Indianapolis Eagles and Jay Helm of the Whistlers. The final score was 8-6, the Eagles getting the win. Jeff Beeson turned in the best performance. The save went to James Gibson, number 1 for him.

The Eagles beat the Whistlers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Adam McCumiskey produced in the top of the seventh. Batting against Josh Cowels, McCumiskey gave his team the lead, 7-5, when he hit a 2-run single.

In postgame comments to the Indianapolis Gazette, McCumiskey said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
