Razor Sharks Claim Late Win
|
Bobby Phillips had a good game, but he could not keep the Riverside Rotters from falling, 6-4, to the Mesa Razor Sharks at Rotters Ballpark. The Riverside first baseman went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Mesa pitcher Victor Benavidez got the win, upping his record to 3-1. Angel Pernillo got the loss. The save was credited to Adam Hinton, his 6th.
Mesa used the clutch hitting of Matt Leonard to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Razor Sharks ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Mesa manager Danny Schexnayder commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
With the win, Mesa goes to 45-36, while the Rotters fall to 59-22.
