Wildthings Turn Away Millionaires, 3-1
|
The Washington Wildthings beat the Alcoa Millionaires, 3-1. Washington pitcher and Norfolk, Virginia, native Jon Arbogast led the way. Jim Unknown claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Washington, with the win, is 18-35.
The Millionaires had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Wildthings going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old left fielder Franklin Aragon came to the plate. Aragon hit a 3-run home run on a 2-1 sinker from Alcoa hurler Alex Fernandez. It was Aragon's 11th home run of the year.
"Enjoyed this one," Aragon told the Washington Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
