Franklin Cortes knocked in 4 runs to help the Alcoa Millionaires win, 6-4, over the Traverse City Bears. The winner in relief was John Holcombe. He is now 3-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Rafael Martinez saved it for Alcoa.

With Alcoa leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Cortes hit a slider from Dale Kneale for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Millionaires ahead, 5-1.

"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Cortes. "And vice-versa."

The Millionaires, at 17-23, inhabit 4th place in the Eastern AA Northern Division.
