Ann Arbor Sends New Rochelle Packing with 3-0 Loss
|
Kevin Clinger could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his New Rochelle Purple Wave lost, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Ann Arbor Z's at Knights Ballpark. Ann Arbor reliever Russ Campbell picked up the win. Kevin Clinger took the loss for New Rochelle. The Z's, now 20-26, know that wins in June count the same as wins in September.
Jerry Tully had a big 2-run double for the Z's in the bottom of the second inning. With Ann Arbor leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Kevin Clinger and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Z's ahead, 3-0.
"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said New Rochelle manager Brent Boudreau. "That's not going to work out."
