Purple Wave Sneak Past Selects, 9-8
The New Rochelle Purple Wave outlasted Ricky Plascencia and the Spokane Selects, 9-8. Plascencia was impressive in the loss. The Spokane first baseman went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. The Purple Wave now have a record of 18-27 with the win over Spokane.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 23-year old third baseman Kyle Nash had a real shot to win the game. Spokane pitcher Tyler Doss was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Nash hit a 2-run single. The Purple Wave had a walk-off triumph.

"The ending was a real humdinger," Nash told reporters after the game.
