The Purple Wave grabbed a win, 4-2, at Crawdad Park, overcoming a fine effort from Hickory pitcher Matt Schapp. Schapp went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. At 26-19, New Rochelle is in second place in the Stripes Conference East Division.

New Rochelle won the game in part because of Steve Taylor. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Purple Wave ahead, 4-2. For the game, Taylor had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Taylor.
