The Hickory Crawdads got a sterling performance from pitcher Dustin Patton, but the Westwood Bruins still prevailed, 3-2. Patton threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner was Alpha Fields in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jon Reynolds took the loss. Hickory's current losing streak is now 5 games.

Westwood got a game-changing hit from Tony Thomas. The left fielder blasted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a winner.

"There is no easy way to lose when you're doing everything you can to win games," said Hickory manager Ray Sanchez.
