Purple Wave Bridle Fighting Quakers, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the New Rochelle Purple Wave and the Quebec Fighting Quakers, 26-year old right-handed pitcher David Woodson was the difference-maker. The New Rochelle right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Woodson yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-4. Mike Dean wrapped it up, recording his 8th save.
New Rochelle second baseman Dusty Ward contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a splitter to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 39th hit of the season and put the Purple Wave ahead, 3-1.
Ward called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
Their 19-25 record puts the Purple Wave 4th in the Stripes Conference East Division.
