Losing Trend Continues for Fremont
|
The exploits of shortstop Eric Richard, who is tied for 4th in the StC in runs scored with 26, helped the Tucson Raccoons defeat the Fremont Marshalls, 7-2. Richard was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Jordan Clayton earned the save for Tucson, his 2nd. Tucson, at 17-25, sits in 5th place in the Stripes Conference West Division.
The Raccoons got an important contribution from catcher Michael Voss, who in the bottom of the second knocked a 0-2 curveball to left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Raccoons ahead, 2-0.
"You go in cycles where it seems like scoring runs is very difficult," Fremont manager Elias Nunez said. "You go through times when it seems like you're whacking it all over the ballpark. We'll straighten it up and we'll put a bunch up."
