Denver pitcher Dan Bruce gave the Purple Wave all they could handle, but in the end, New Rochelle left Pilots Ballpark with a win, 1-0. Bruce allowed no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings. Gabe Sprung earned the save, his 10th. The win puts the Purple Wave at 22-18, while the Pilots drop to 17-23.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Randy Brewer came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Denver pitcher Jose Chacon, he hit a 0-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Rochelle on top, 1-0.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Brewer.
