Crawdad Park was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

In a low-scoring contest between the Palm Springs Heat and the Hickory Crawdads, 27-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Waring proved to be the difference. The Palm Springs right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Heat win. B.J. Rudolph, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1 innings.

Chris Epstein made it 2-1, in favor of Palm Springs when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the ninth. The Heat went on to win.

Waring called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
