The Orono Oaks overcame a pretty good performance by Tucson designated hitter Bill Meyers, beating the Raccoons, 3-2, at Raccoons Ballpark. Meyers threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Matt Haselden, who is tied for 9th in the StC in quality starts with 5, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout. Mike Poussard was called on to finish, recording his 8th save.
First Baseman Paul McComas made an impact for Orono, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Bill Meyers in the top of the fifth. For the contest, McComas was 1-3 with a double and a walk.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Tucson manager Bill Escobar.
Orono's record now stands at 23-15, placing them second in the Stripes Conference East Division.
