Heat Handed 5-3 Loss by Hickory
|
The Hickory Crawdads locked up a win at Heat Ballpark, knocking off the Palm Springs Heat, 5-3. On the mound for Hickory was right-hander Ryan Warren. He played a major role in the triumph. In 6.2 innings, Warren surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Brian Aldridge earned the save, his 7th, for the Crawdads.
Hickory used a well-timed hit by Jeremy Comey to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Warren. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
The Crawdads improved to 19-15.
