The Orono Oaks had to overcome a fine performance from Hickory pitcher Josh Riese to grab a 2-1 win at Crawdad Park. Riese allowed 1 run over 7 innings. Orono pitcher Jesse Keim got the win. He's now 2-0. Ed Newsom was tagged with the loss. Orono, at 28-8, holds down first place in the Stripes Conference East Division.

Chris Medders chipped in for Orono, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 4 with a double.
