The Denver Pilots defeated the Hickory Crawdads, 6-3. Doing his part was right fielder Tony Villarreal, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Juan Santana wrapped it up, recording his 8th save. The last-place Pilots now sit at 12-21.
Dale Coffey, who is tied for 4th in the StC in triples with 2, aided the Denver cause with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman went 3-3 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Villarreal told the Denver Today.
