Bobcats Victorious at Spokane, 3-2
|
The Walnut Park Bobcats rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Heath Maughn to a win, beating the Spokane Selects, 3-2, at Selects Ballpark. The win belonged to Quincy Donaldson in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Victor Angel took the loss for Spokane. Walnut Park is now 15-14.
Mike Scott came through with a big-time hit for Walnut Park. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Spokane manager Chris McLure. "But we decided not to take it."
