Z's Fall to Purple Wave Late
|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Noel Cusack, the New Rochelle Purple Wave defeated the Ann Arbor Z's, 6-3. Cusack went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Purple Wave. Terrence Hamilton snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. The win gives New Rochelle a record of 14-14.
Cusack had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-1 cutter from Brian Finkel, he banged a 2-run double to right-center, giving the Purple Wave a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Cusack.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Cusack, "and then get after it again."
