In a tight affair between the New Rochelle Purple Wave and the Walnut Park Bobcats, pitcher Ron Lombardi was in the zone. The New Rochelle left-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. Vince Zamora, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The win puts New Rochelle at 14-13.

The decisive blow was delivered by Justin Ottinger in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Garst to win the game for New Rochelle. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place was electric at the end," Lombardi said.
