The New Rochelle Purple Wave faced a tenacious opponent in Tucson pitcher Isaiah Robinson, but still scratched out a win at Raccoons Ballpark by a final score of 3-2 in 11 innings. Robinson went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Simon in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ray Barone took the loss. For the Raccoons, the loss makes them 7-15.
New Rochelle used the clutch hitting of Dennis Quesada to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Purple Wave ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Purple Wave manager William Gregg.
