Fremont pitcher Jaiden Harvey gave the Crawdads all they could handle, but in the end, Hickory left Crawdad Park with a win, 1-0. Harvey allowed no runs on 1 hit over 7 innings. The victory makes Hickory 12-4, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2022.

The Crawdads got a clutch hit from center fielder Marcos Villarreal. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Crawdads.

"Runs were at a premium," said Hickory manager Ray Sanchez.
