The Randolph Prairie Thunder took Fremont pitcher Donnie Marcus's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hedgehogs Ballpark. The final score had Randolph getting past the Marshalls, 3-1. Marcus went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 7. The Prairie Thunder, now 12-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The Marshalls had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Prairie Thunder going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Mike Weiss came to the plate. Weiss hit a solo home run on a full count fastball from Fremont hurler Donnie Marcus. It was Weiss's 1st home run of the year.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Fremont manager Elias Nunez.
