|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave topped the Dillonvale Indians, 6-2, in Stripes Conference action at Black Diamonds Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to New Rochelle pitcher and Chiba, Japan, native Kosuke Sakai. Sakai, now 2-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Indians, now 4-9, continue their poor start.
New Rochelle used a clutch at-bat from Eduardo Lopez to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Purple Wave ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Sakai.
