Fighting Quakers Pick Up 2-1 Win Against Denver
|
The Denver Pilots got a superb performance from pitcher David Fry, but the Quebec Fighting Quakers still won the game, 2-1. Fry threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Marty Matthews, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 4.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. With the loss, Denver sinks to 4-9.
Nick Nunley helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Fighting Quakers.
"Runs were at a premium," said Quebec manager Jeff Gray.
