Briceno Hurls No-Hitter
|
The Quebec Aces relied on no-hit stuff from starter Nate Briceno to defeat the Westwood Bruins, 2-0, at Belmont Park.
"It's quite a thrill," Briceno told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Stripes Conference records, he stopped Westwood cold and hitless, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 6 of the 28 batters he faced.
Quebec manager Elias Nunez was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Briceno "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
