Z's Topple Heat, 5-3, as Watson Shines
|
Ann Arbor first baseman Paul Watson was instrumental in helping the Z's triumph, 5-3, over the Palm Springs Heat. Watson hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Chris Lockner earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout in 6 innings of work. Chris Runte, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Watson made an early impact for Ann Arbor when he stroked his 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the top of the third, put the Z's on top, 4-0.
"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Watson.
The Z's, with just their 5th win so far in 2025, have yet to catch fire.
