The Spokane Selects scooped up a win at Ballpark of Lexington, dumping the New Rochelle Purple Wave, 3-2. Paul Mitchell, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2020 draft, was essential to his team's success. Joseph Scale, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save. With their winning streak at 4, the Selects have raced to a strong start this season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Geoff Hereth? The 23-year old left fielder Hereth stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Spokane up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Spokane skipper Chris McLure.
