Purple Wave Come Up Short at Spokane, 2-1
|
In a well-pitched game between the Spokane Selects and the New Rochelle Purple Wave, pitcher Aaron Daniels was superb. The Spokane right-hander helped his team win, 2-1. Daniels went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-0. New Rochelle, with the loss, is 6-6.
Mark Payne hit a 2-run home run off Jim Mendoza in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Selects ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, Payne had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
In postgame remarks, Daniels said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
