Crawdads Get Extra-Inning, 5-4 Win
The Hickory Crawdads overcame a good performance by Westwood right fielder Armando Gomez to knock off Westwood, 5-4, at Crawdad Park. Gomez went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jonathan Marich snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 3 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Hickory goes to 6-4.

The decisive blow was delivered by Fred Hernandez in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a run-scoring double off 35-year old right-handed pitcher Bobby Corbo to win the game for Hickory. The home crowd went nuts.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Crawdads manager Ray Sanchez.
