Pilots Handed 5-2 Loss by Purple Wave
|
New Rochelle turned a good performance from starting pitcher Kevin Clinger into a 5-2 triumph over the Denver Pilots at Ballpark of Lexington. Gabe Sprung earned save number 2 this season. Denver falls to 2-6.
Kevin Garber had a big solo home run for the Purple Wave in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New Rochelle leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 32-year old right-handed pitcher David Fry and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Purple Wave on top, 2-0.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Clinger.
