Dave Hernandez was nothing short of phenomenal for the Fremont Marshalls. The 30-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Randolph Prairie Thunder, 2-0. The winner was Hernandez. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ricardo Rincon. The win gives Fremont a record of 5-2.

The Prairie Thunder had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Marshalls going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old right fielder Ray Phillips came to the plate. Phillips hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 curveball from Randolph hurler Ricardo Rincon. It was Phillips's 1st home run of the year.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Randolph manager Michael Kelleher.
