The inspired effort of New Rochelle shortstop Kyle Nash was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Orono Oaks. Nash went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Brian Treadway, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Matt Williams closed the door for Orono, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Orono shortstop Chris Cooper made an impact. He drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. In the contest, Cooper was 1-4.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Orono manager Mike Barriga. "It's usually not just one thing."
New Rochelle drops to 1-3.
