Fans of the New Rochelle Purple Wave who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a New Rochelle win over the visiting Quebec Aces, 2-1. Fred Hollern started for the home team against Jim Wallace. Jim Wallace earned accolades for his performance. Getting the save was Gabe Sprung, his 1st.
Justin Ottinger, the 5th overall pick in the 2025 draft, contributed to the New Rochelle win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Ottinger.
