The 2021 season began for the Fremont Marshalls with a loss to the Orono Oaks at Hedgehogs Ballpark. The final score was 5-4. Orono pitcher Mauricio Martinez had a fine performance. Steve Easley closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Eric Hicks, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft, took Fremont hurler Chris Mattison deep in the top of the fourth. His 3-run home run put the Oaks on top, 3-0. In all, Hicks had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Fremont manager Tyrone Hairston said, following the tough loss.
