Crawdads Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Hickory Crawdads put one in the win column with an opening day 3-2 triumph over the Walnut Park Bobcats in 11 innings. The crowd at Crawdad Park watched Matt Schapp put on a fine performance.
The game-ending blow was delivered by Josh Botello in the bottom of the 11th. That's when he hit a run-scoring double off fan favorite Lee Maher to win it for Hickory and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Walnut Park manager Hua Pian.
