The Nashville Lasers defeated the Hartford Matadors, 7-1, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Nashville third baseman Hector Nunez had a superb performance. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. Ozzie Cruz got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. With the win, Nashville pushed its record to 80-63.

In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Nunez hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Nunez told the Nashville Chronicle.
