Tailgators Clip Royals, 4-3
|
The Chesapeake Tailgators picked up a win at Tailgators Ballpark, topping the Montreal Royals, 4-3. On the mound for Chesapeake was right-hander Nick Douglass. He played a principal role in the triumph. In 8.2 innings, Douglass surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. At 63-81, Chesapeake is in 4th place in the Stars Conference East Division.
Ben Blake had a big 2-run home run for the Tailgators in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Chesapeake leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a slider from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Bass and punished it. The result was his 28th home run of the season, which put the Tailgators on top, 4-0.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Douglass.
