Stampede Pull Out Late Win, 4-3
|
The Lubbock Stampede and Chesapeake Tailgators played an entertaining game for Reagor Dykes Stadium patrons.
In the 4-3 Lubbock win over Chesapeake, the impact of Eric Brewer was substantial. Brewer was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Nick Wolfe picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 7-3. John Gray suffered the loss.
Lubbock got a clutch hit from Steve Howard. The first baseman launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"Winning never gets dull," said Brewer.
With the win, the Stampede improved to 79-60.
