In a low-scoring contest between the Hartford Matadors and the Portland Mad Ants, Ryan Barmore was the X factor. The Hartford right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Barmore got the win, improving to 13-4. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Luke Getts finished the game for Hartford and earned his 5th save.

Hartford used the timely hitting of David Cagle to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Matadors on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I tried to establish all my pitches early," said Barmore.

The first-place Matadors have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
