The Montreal Royals racked up a win at Turtles Ballpark, bumping off the Nashville Lasers, 3-1. Oscar Orduno, who started for Montreal, pitched effectively for his team. Jonathan Bell closed the game out for Montreal, earning his 8th save. The first-place Royals, at 93-45, now lead their division by 15½ games.

Brian Hendrix, who is tied for 3rd in the SC with a .367 on-base percentage, took Nashville hurler Pat Higginbotham deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Royals on top, 2-1. In all, Hendrix had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"Every loss stings," said Nashville manager Kenny McElhaney. "This one is no exception."
