The skies opened up and the rain fell at Turtles Ballpark.

Due in large part to catcher Hugo Ramos, the Montreal Royals sunk the Lubbock Stampede, 9-3. Ramos went 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Montreal reliever Jonathan Higginbotham picked up the win to move to 3-1. Miguel Aguirre suffered the loss.

Dan James came through for Montreal with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. The third baseman went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 RBI.

James told the Montreal Citizen: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."

The first-place Royals, at 87-49, lead the Stars Conference East Division by 9½ games.
