The Chesapeake Tailgators racked up a win at Tailgators Ballpark, bumping off the Hartford Matadors, 1-0, in 10 innings. Jim Wallace, who started for Chesapeake, pitched effectively for his team. The winner in relief was Bobby Dwyer. He is now 1-5. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The Tailgators improved to 57-79.

Chesapeake got a knockout punch from Kevin Cimini. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"That game was intense," Cimini said.
