Baxter Springs Defeated by Lubbock, 3-1
|
The Lubbock Stampede and Baxter Springs Marshals played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Lubbock Stampede pitcher Jaheem Brown was in fine form, leading his team past the Baxter Springs Marshals, 3-1. The winner was Brown. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Josh Gatto. Paul Garcia closed the door for Lubbock, picking up his 33rd save of the year.
Joe Ortiz took Baxter Springs hurler Josh Gatto deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Stampede on top, 2-1. In all, Ortiz had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said Baxter Springs manager Mitsuaki Sakaguchi.
With the win, Lubbock goes to 66-67, while the Marshals fall to 75-58.
