The Portland Mad Ants beat the Laredo Ghosts, 4-2, at Ghosts Ballpark. The Mad Ants got a fine performance from left fielder Jerry Blake, who went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. Portland reliever Rich Wilkinson was the winner. His record is now 5-7. The losing pitcher was Joe McLaughlin. Portland is 73-58 and Laredo, with the loss, 64-67.

Portland used the timely hitting of Morgan Vitulli to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mad Ants on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
