Marshalls Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Fremont Marshalls eventually prevailed.
Portland got a valiant performance from pitcher Jaheim Jennings, but it wasn't enough to beat the Fremont Marshalls. Fremont won the game, 5-4. Jennings threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Fremont reliever Jeremy Sufka picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Gordie Clifford took the loss. Jonathan Reeher picked up the save, his 29th.
Chris Dietel drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate for Fremont. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Dietel had a clutch at-bat. Facing Portland hurler Gordie Clifford, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Marshalls a 5-4 lead.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Dietel.
Fremont, at 75-56, is 6 games up in the Stars Conference West Division.
