Joilet got a strong outing from Matt Schmid as the Jesters defeated the Laredo Ghosts, 4-2, at Ballpark of Joilet. Mark Burkhart notched his 1st save in 2 chances. Joilet's record now stands at 68-63, placing them 4th in the Stars Conference East Division.

It was a remarkable effort from Schmid, who is one of the team leaders. Schmid recorded 10 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 1 hit. Schmid, who is tied for 4th in the SC with a 1.07 WHIP, moves to 10-4 on the year with 97 strikeouts.

Laredo manager Josh Miller said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
