Matadors Down Tailgators, 3-1

The Hartford Matadors racked up a win at Tailgators Ballpark, bumping off the Chesapeake Tailgators, 3-1. Joe Stanley, who started for Hartford, pitched effectively for his team. Ricky Hill, credited with the save, is now 18 for 19 in save opportunities. Hartford improves to 81-49 with the win. They lead their division by 8½ games.
Hartford used the timely hitting of B.B. Bugbee to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Matadors on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to be on top of the heap," said Matadors manager Jesse Heugly.
