Marshalls Capture Close Win
|
The Fremont Marshalls did just enough to sneak past the Glendale Muskies, 5-4, at Field of the Muskies. Fremont first baseman Kyle Stansberry, in particular, had a standout performance. Fremont reliever Tim Peters got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Josh Hamilton was tagged with the loss. Stuart Taylor locked down his 17th save.
Fremont used the timely hitting of Erik Hansen to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marshalls on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Stansberry, "one at-bat at a time."
Fremont is now 84-45, 5 games up in the Stars Conference West Division.
